Marty has come a long way from the small village, near Bunratty Castle, in County Clare, in the rolling hills of Ireland, in which he grew up as the sixth of seven kids. He emigrated Downunder, in 2007, after sparks flew when he met his Australian partner, Alissa. They met in Bolivia, while travelling through South America.
“I haven’t had a bad day since,” he says. Marty worked on construction sites ‘out bush’, including the Snowy Mountains, before moving to Lake Macquarie with his paediatrician ‘better half’, in 2013. The couple has two children, aged 6 and 3, and a third due in November.
