Has NSW finally scrapped all COVID restrictions?

Great news for NSW as Gladys Berejiklian announces further easing of restrictions from Monday 29th March. NSW has only recorded two cases of community transmission of COVID-19 within the last couple of months and both of those have been related to hotel quarantine. With 100% of quarantine workers now having received at least one vaccination for COVID and with the vaccination program now moving to their families and frontline health staff NSW can begin to move forward with relaxations.

“With no community transmission and our quarantine and frontline workers now receiving their second vaccinations, the timing is right to further ease restrictions across the state,” Ms Berejiklian said.

NSW Restrictions eased

So, what’s changing?

Masks will no longer be mandatory on public transport although they are still strongly recommended.

There are NO caps on numbers attending weddings and funerals.

Singing will have no restrictions in any setting.

Dancing is once again allowed everywhere.

You can invite any number of people you wish to your home although, if you are having 100 or more, you will need to put a COVID-19 safety plan into place and have an electronic recording of those who attend.

Where you attend a venue that has seating there will be 100% capacity.

Venues can now move to a one person per  2 square metre rule but that only comes into effect if there are more than 25 people in the venue.

If you are hosting a personal gathering outside you can welcome up to 200 people.

Electronic check-in still required

It’s still mandatory that we must electronically check-in when we visit a venue. It’s important that if an outbreak does occur, those that were in the venue are easily able to be contacted and necessary precautions can be taken.

We are pretty much back to normal and that’s a great thing for the people of our state,” – Dominic Perrottet, NSW Treasurer.
