Here’s some fantastic news for some of our Lake Macquarie residents! The Regional Seniors Card is available to eligible seniors allowing you $250 towards the cost of your travel. This card is available to eligible seniors who live in rural, regional and remote areas and Lake Macquarie is included in this list. You can use your card at certain retailers to pay for taxis, fuel, coaches and to pre-book NSW Trainlink Regional trains.

Applications for 2022 will open at 7 am on 17 January 2022 and close on 30 November 2022. It is strongly advised under the current COVID environment to apply online or on the phone.

The travel card is valid for 14 months from the date the card is issued. The expiry date is available on the front of the card.
Eligibility
For the trial you must be:
- Receiving the Age Pension (you must have received the Age Pension for at least one month); or
- A Commonwealth Seniors Health Card Holder (you must have held your card for at least one month); and
- Living in a designated regional area of NSW outside of Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong.

Sadly, if you fall under the Newcastle City Council area you are not able to apply. Contact your local Member of Parliament if you are unhappy about this.
