It’s hard to describe just how jaw-droppingly beautiful this walk is. With an abundance of nature, amazing views, and various experiences, your family will love this adventure. Spend a day at Bouddi National Park or a few nights at the National Park campsite.
Starting the walk
This walk starts on the sandy beach at Putty Beach car park. Head to the left and you’ll find the steps to Gerrin Point Lookout. Follow the map below to arrive at the Putty Beach Car Park Where you’ll begin the Bouddi national Park walk!
The walk to Gerrin Point is about 1 km and takes about 30 minutes. You’ll be led along wooden boardwalks, across sandstone platforms, through coastal heath, and up and down lots of stairs. Spot the bush turkey who calls this place home.
Gerrin Point Lookout gives you views across Maitland Bay. Marvel at the tessellated pavement on your right-hand side before the ocean.
From here you can walk to Maitland Bay. This is a 1.6km walk and will take you about 45 minutes. If you’re quiet you may see a lizard basking in the sun, or a sea eagle passing overhead. Keep an eye out for the most amazing sandstone caves.
We walked as far as Marang Lookout, however, this coastal path continues for 8.5 km. Just remember, you need to walk the 8.5km back again! Once you return, enjoy a picnic in the dedicated picnic area next to the car park. With tables, BBQs, toilets, and water, it’s a great spot to take a break.
