Lake Macquarie Community Groups

Did you know that Lake Macquarie has 15 sustainable neighbourhood groups, 8 community gardens and that there are 9 Lake Macquarie community groups? There are also local volunteer-run kids groups such as the girl guides and scouts. To be completely honest, I had no idea that we had all of these awesome services here in our community.  

 

Belmont Neighbourhood Centre, NSW

There are lots of ways to get involved such as men’s shed, community garden, Playstation toy library, venue hire and community services and programs. Get in touch with the Belmont Neighbourhood Centre because if you don’t you’re missing out. Located at 359 Pacific Highway, Belmont North, NSW, 2280.

Cameron Park Community Centre, Lake Macquarie

The Cameron Park Community Centre is a state of the art facility that caters for local people providing them with child and family services, community activities and venue hire. This centre is based at 107 Northlakes Drive, Cameron Park, NSW, 2285

The Place – Charlestown, Lake Macquarie

The Place at Charlestown is a safe space where the local community can meet. They offer a young parents group, information and referral support, a playgroup, Justice of the Peace as well as venue hire and other services. They’re based at the corner of Frederick and Pearson Street, Charlestown, NSW, 2290.

Cooranbong Community Services Centre, Lake Macquarie

Emergency relief is offered through this centre such as providing food, clothing, bedding and furniture for personal assistance.  The community centre also offers arts and crafts, social occasions, workshops and seminars.  You’ll find them at 614 Freemans Drive, Cooranbong, NSW, 2265

Edgeworth Memorial Neighbourhood Centre, Lake Macquarie

In the North lakes area, the Edgeworth Memorial Neighbourhood Centre is a not for profit community-based service. They can help you with job search and resumes, Justice of the Peace and no-interest loans. They also offer a community playgroup and community garden.  You’ll also find awesome youth programs and adolescent/family councillors. Find them at 1 Minmi Road, Edgeworth, NSW, 2285

Southlake Neighbourhood Centre and Community Services – Morisset, Lake Macquarie

This centre offers the community on the South of the lake a place to connect and find support. Offering a disability support program, a youth service and before and after school care. A neighbourhood service includes activities like a playgroup, free internet, computer use and a community garden. Check them out at 143 Dora Street, Morisset, NSW 2284.

Swansea Community Cottage, NSW

This is a local neighbourhood centre which provides information, advice and referral services for members of the community that live in or around Swansea. Some of the services provided include emergency relief vouchers, Justice of the Peace, vacation care, support groups, playgroup and tax help. A not for profit registered charity that provides support and services for people in the community that live in Toronto or the surrounding area. You’ll discover lots of great services run out of their centre and there’s also the opportunity to hire a space for family gatherings, birthday parties and other suitable reasons. I love community gardens because they’re all about bringing people together, sharing knowledge and their own time. Lake Macquarie is lucky to have numerous gardens in our community for you to join. Growing food and sharing produce is not only good for the soul, but it’s also great for our kids to understand where real food comes from.

Kids Groups in Lake Macquarie

Australian Air League – Belmont, NSW

The Australian Air League is a volunteer organisation aimed at boys between the ages of 8 and 18 who are interested in aviation. Metting every Wednesday night (except school holidays) at Belmont Airport your kids will love learning all things aviation. The girl guides organisation offers girls aged between 5 and 17 the opportunity to hang out in a safe space. They learn new skills and make new friendships. Scouts Lake Macquarie

The worldwide legacy of Scouts is run by volunteers where boys and girls have the opportunity to learn new skills, find adventure and forge new friendships. Scouts are aged between 5 and 18 and over. Lake Macquarie PCYC – Windale

The Police Citizens Youth Club offers a huge variety of activities for people of all ages, from toddlers to seniors. From school holiday programs to boxing, martial arts and gymnastics. There’s something for everyone. Providing support to at-risk youth with mentoring, job-ready and vocational opportunities gives hope and support where it’s needed most.
