Orange picking on the Central Coast

Cedar Farm is located at 48 Dittons Road Dooralong. It will take you 20min from Morisset, or 45min from greater Lake Macquarie.

There’s a designated parking area for visitors. Keep up to date with all the latest news at the farm, be sure to follow their Facebook page: Pick Your Own Oranges Dooralong

Meet the owners

Jack & Kay purchased Cedar Farm back in 2011, however, the orchards were established in the 1920s and there are over 3000 trees, including Navel and Valencia oranges, and lemons.

Even though this region is perfect for growing citrus, over the years cheap imports from Brazil, used as reconstituted orange juice, have closed all other farms in the area. Jack has done an awesome job of maintaining the farm, considering his horticulture knowledge was zero. Some of the trees are thought to be 100yrs old.

Planning your trip

Harvest season is from early July and the farm opens every day of the school holidays from 10 am – 4 pm. For the rest of the picking season (until the end of spring), the farm will only be open from 10 am – 4 pm on weekends.

Wear closed-in shoes, and don’t forget to bring a bag for your oranges and your own mug for a free cup of tea. You can purchase lemons from reception and honey too. Pop down to the bottom field to visit the chickens, ducks, goats, and sheep in an enclosure. Food for the animals can be purchased for a small cost. Grab a picnic table or there is plenty of room to throw a picnic rug down and enjoy the gorgeous crisp air and beautiful landscape.
