All aboard Edgeworth miniature trains!

Buckle up, grab your closed-in shoes, and get ready to ride Edgeworth miniature trains! If you’re a Lake Mac local and have never experienced the delight of zooming along the tracks, you’ve been missing out. We’ve spent many a birthday, playgroup meeting, or Sunday afternoon riding the rails. Operated by volunteers from the Lake Macquarie Live Steam Locomotive Society, it’s great to know our Lake Mac families can enjoy this experience.

There is a small cost, which has been introduced to cover the ever-increasing costs of operating the trains. You can jump aboard Edgeworth trains on the last Sunday of every month excluding December. Trains will run between 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm.

How to get to the trains

Edgeworth trains are located off Velinda Street in Edgeworth. There is a free car park and if that’s full, you can easily park on the street. Make sure you take your camping chairs or a picnic blanket as there is plenty of space to set up your base. You’ll find toilets located for public use on-site as well.

Lake Macquarie Live Steam Locomotive Society

Since the club was formed in 1953 it has grown to include a dedicated team of volunteers who love building and maintaining their engines. The tracks are set in a beautiful location, surrounded by native trees and bushes. With several trains and tracks to choose from you can enjoy watching for native birds, waving to your family and friends or heading through the tunnels.

Your miniature train experience

Don’t forget to make sure all of the family wear closed-in shoes. You’ll not be allowed to ride if any part of your foot is exposed. None of the trains are covered so your experience will include the wind in your hair and the smell of smoke belching from the locomotive engines as you ride. Watch the electric trains operate on the tracks as well.

Parties or private function hire

Yes, it’s possible to book for private functions. This gives you the full, private use of the facility. Bookings for private hire of Edgeworth miniature trains can be made on a Wednesday or a Sunday. Head over to their website to find out more.

Make sure you put Edgeworth trains on your to-do list. You’ll be guaranteed that your family will enjoy an unforgettable experience. The only question you’ll get in the car on the way home is when you’ll be going back!
