Pack up the car, grab the picnic rug, scooters, sunscreen, and hats. Not far from Lake Macquarie, discover 4 MEGA playgrounds. There’s nothing better than a half day road trip to somewhere exciting, and these 4 playgrounds are next level fun for kids.
Stockton
With space surrounding it, Griffith Park Playground is a must-visit for families. Why not park in Newcastle and catch the ferry over.
This playground has some unique play equipment, plus shade over the sandpit. There are plenty of tables with shade, or you can spread out a picnic rug and laze in the sun. If the kids love to skate, this playground also has a skate ramp for younger kids with an undercover area. Apart from the playground, you’ll also find a harbourside path for scooters, and a cafe right at the playground. The kids will love watching the tugboats and coal loaders move through the harbour.
Gosford
Gosford Waterfront Park will have you feeling like a kid again. It’s divided into two main sections. For the little ones, a tidal water play area, which is huge. Built on a sandy base with ship wrecks and stone shaped sea creatures, this area is a hit with your water lovers. Make sure you visit the park at high tide so there is water to play in.
The other main area features a slope which takes you to the three main climbing structures shaped like rockets. Discover rope netting, platforms, slide entrances and bridges to cross. If you have a climber in your family, this area is built for them.
The park has a large grassy area with a paved path, great for scooters and bikes. It’s situated next to the Central Coast Leagues Club, cafes and restaurants.
Singleton
Featuring a contemporary design, kids can climb the rope nets, cross the rope bridges and zoom down one of four slides. There’s a water play area with several jets to keep the kids cool in summer. This fenced playground includes toilets, a food and drinks kiosk, picnic tables and water bubblers. If you’re heading out this way, it’s a great pit stop to let the kids use up some energy.
Riverside Park is situated on the banks of the Hunter River. With lots of green space and a paved pathway, you can follow the track to Cook Park, the Singleton Sundial and Rose Point Park.
Huntlee Park
When you visit Huntlee Playground you’ll find sun shades galore! This playground has everything for the whole family. Discover plenty of space to play, a great cafe with good coffee and plenty for the kids to do.
There is a lot of ‘wow factor’ at this playground! It’s suitable for all ages, with spaces for younger kids to explore, climb, and slide. Older kids will find plenty of adventure too. There are undercover seating areas with tables, BBQs, toilets and water bubblers. You’ll also discover a half basketball court so don’t forget to pack your ball.
