Lake Macquarie’s Living Smart Festival

This year’s Living Smart Festival is set to be bigger and better, offering a full day of activities for the whole family. Enjoy hands-on workshops, inspiring talks, live demonstrations, and browse market stalls showcasing sustainable living. Hear from some of Australia’s leading voices in innovation and sustainability as we come together to “think global and act local.” The 2025 festival will run as a one-day event at Speers Point Park on Saturday, 20th September, from 9 am to 3 pm.

Headlining this year’s festival is the legendary Dr Karl Kruszelnicki. With over 30 years of making science accessible and 48 books to his name, Dr Karl brings his passion for climate change to the stage. He’ll be sharing all his insights and inspiration with festivalgoers.

Set against a relaxed, community-focused atmosphere, the festival invites visitors to connect with local artists and sample delicious produce. Visitors can get involved in a range of hands-on activities led by the local community.
