Learn more about Nippers Registration in Lake Macquarie

As the weather warms up and beach days return, make sure your kids are ready for the ocean. With Nippers clubs running across all four of Lake Macquarie’s stunning beaches, it’s the perfect opportunity for them to build confidence, skills, and water safety knowledge. Join a Nippers registration day and get your kids involved!

Why nippers?

Nippers offers kids aged 5 to under 14 a fun and safe way to enjoy the beach. For over 100 years, Surf Life Saving has been an integral part of Australian culture, with many parents having once been Nippers themselves.

It’s a great chance to make new friends, join in exciting lessons, and build a pathway to lifesaving and surf sport. Competition is also an integral part of the program, helping children strengthen their skills and develop into confident lifesavers.

Who can join Nippers?

Kids can join Nippers as soon as they turn five and will be placed in an age group based on their age as of the 30th September. While it helps if they can already swim, a preliminary skills assessment will be done to check their ability.

Once registered, Nippers takes place every Sunday morning from mid-October to early March. Each week, kids enjoy a mix of fun beach games, activities, and surf education. There’s plenty of water action too, with wading and swimming, and as they grow older, they’ll get to use surfboards as well.

Nippers registration

Depending on where you live, we have four Surf Life Saving Clubs that you can register your child with. Registrations open in August. Check your club’s Facebook page for registration dates and in-person registration dates.
