Fly from Lake Macquarie

Newcastle Airport

Situated just a one hour drive from Lake Macquarie at Williamstown, Newcastle Airport currently offers flights along the east coast.  Since the start of its use as a commercial airport in 1948, Newcastle airport has grown and contributes both international and domestic tourism to the area.

International flight destination

Newcastle airport will start to offer international flights to Auckland from November 2019.

Domestic flight destinations

Currently you can fly domestically to:

  • Melbourne
  • Canberra
  • Sydney
  • Dubbo
  • Taree
  • Ballina
  • Gold Coast
  • Brisbane

From many of these airports, you can then connect to flights that will take you to other destinations in Australia or all around the world.

Why choose Newcastle?

The beauty of Newcastle airport is that being a regional airport it has less travellers. That means there’s generally lots of parking available, check in doesn’t take long, nor does passing through customs and immigration.  Once you go into the airport there are a few eateries where you can choose food and drink to suit your tastes. There’s a licensed bar and a newsagency that sells the usual snacks, drinks, newspapers, magazines, books and Australian souvenirs.

Taxi services, Uber and car rentals operate from the airport. There is also an information desk where travellers can arrange accommodation or find out more about what the area has to offer.

With well over one million travellers using this airport every year, Newcastle airport is living up to its goal of connecting people, connecting places.
