Gift cards are always a handy Christmas option, but let’s be honest, popping one into a card can feel a little… ordinary. This clever Christmas craft turns a simple gift card into something much more special, using a Kmart shadow box, chocolates, and a few festive decorations. It’s an easy way to create a thoughtful gift that looks like you’ve put in loads of effort!
Create a golden Christmas theme
For this version, a classic gold Christmas theme keeps things festive. We have also made the gift completely unisex. Think gold baubles, stars, ribbon, and other small Christmas decorations. Choose flat items that will fit neatly inside the shadow box. Add a few chocolates around the gift card and arrange everything so the finished piece feels full, festive, and beautifully presented. Double-sided tape is handy to ensure items stay in place. Lay it out, hold the back in place, and flip it over to check the layout. Add ribbons and beads in the gaps.
Turn it into a gift to remember
The beauty of this idea is that you can make it suit whoever you’re giving it to. Choose their favourite gift card, add their favourite chocolates, and play around with the decorations until you love the arrangement. You could make one for a teenager, teacher, friend, family member, or even that person who is notoriously hard to buy for. After Christmas, the shadow box frame can be reused as a keepsake or decoration.

A creative alternative to wrapping
Instead of simply handing over a gift card, you’re creating a whole Christmas display around it. Best of all, you don’t need to be a crafting expert to give it a go. A few inexpensive decorations, some chocolates, gift cards, and a shadow box. Transform a Christmas gift to look much more impressive than the effort involved. It’s a simple little DIY project that’s a perfect gift idea for teenagers. Got a tweenager instead? Here’s a Christmas gift idea for tweens.
