Explore the Somersby Falls Walk on the Central Coast

As soon as you open the car door, you’ll be summoned by the sound of running water. The smell of the lush rainforest canopy surrounds you, and for a few hours, you’ll be lost in nature. The Somersby Falls Walk is simply stunning.

Getting there

Somersby Falls can be found in Brisbane Water National Park on the Central Coast. Head down the M1 and take the Central Coast Exist/Wisemans Ferry Rd. Allow an hour each way in drive time, and a couple of hours to enjoy your adventure.

We highly recommend going early, before the crowds. The car park opens at 9 am and has a small fee. You’ll find toilets, picnic tables, and even a BBQ. Or bring a rug and find a spot along the water’s edge to immerse yourself in the experience completely.

The walking track is well-signposted and leads you down the falls. You’ll discover a stunning landscape with natural stone steps cascading parallel to the waterfalls. Each of the falls is unique and worth visiting.

The best time to visit is after rain, however, please be careful and follow the signs, and keep your eyes on the kids at all times. There are sections without handrails so visitors need to be able to navigate steep steps, and obstacles and walk without a handrail in sections.

It was interesting to hear the kids comment on its unique character as well, that’s why Marks Oval Playground is worth the visit.
