Marks Oval Playground gets an upgrade and the kids love it!

This playground looks and feels different from a standard playground in Lake Macquarie. Built from a wood ‘look-a-like’ structure, it blends into the surroundings and natural landscape. It was interesting to hear the kids comment on its unique character as well, that’s why Marks Oval Playground is worth the visit.

Getting to Marks Oval Playground

The playground is located on Floraville Road. You can access Floraville Road via the Pacific Highway at Belmont, or Violet Town Road in Tingira Heights. You’ll find off-street parking at the playground, toilets, and a few scattered shelters for tables and benches. There’s plenty of room to spread a picnic rug out as well.

Adjacent to the sports oval, I’m sure this playground will be well used during the soccer season.

Play equipment for little kids

The kids headed straight for the spinner. They have always got time to try and make their sibling feel sick from spinning them super fast.

For the toddlers, there’s a spring-based car and stepping stones leading to some beams. Kids can practice their balance while underneath is soft woodchips. They’ll find a few small stairs up to a slippery dip, and a nest swing for two kids to swing together.

Older kids can climb

The nest swing is a favourite with kids, and the single swing is nice and low making it easy to get on and off by themselves.

The rest of the play equipment is built for the climbers. They’ll find a rock wall, rope walk, ladder, and horizontal section at the top of the climbing cube. Our monkeys loved it!

Mark Oval Playground

We loved the size of this playground, it’s not very big, but just right for a morning of play in the sun. Bring a soccer ball to kick around, pack some lunch, and relax outside with your family. Make sure you avoid the playground during the weekend soccer games though. It will not only be busy, but parking might be challenging.
