Hillsborough’s Percy Street Playground is fully fenced!

Percy Street Playground in Hillsborough, is small but perfectly formed. Not overwhelming or filled with too much equipment. There’s space to sit, play or enjoy the peace. As our kids ran in to discover what was there, it was comforting to see this playground is fully fenced. Ideal for younger children, you’ll be able to relax as they explore.

Making your way to this playground

Percy Street Playground, at Howe Reserve, is located next to Hillsborough Oval and the tennis courts. There’s parking available on the street. You’ll find a couple of benches placed in the playground so you can watch the kids. Also, located just outside of the playground, is an undercover picnic table. The perfect spot to enjoy a snack.

Watch out for pirates!

Kids will climb up into the rope nest using the ropes with perfectly positioned places for their little feet. They can easily climb down using the rope ladder. They’ll feel like they’re up in the rigging of a sailing ship as they keep a watch for pirates.

Spin in the egg cup

The nest swing is the perfect place for kids to sit and make friends. With space for a small group they’ll be able to interact and play together. Kids can sharpen skills on the climbing wall, then slide down the double slide together. Sit and rock in the car, or spin in the egg cup. The choice is theirs!

Don’t forget the scooters

Follow the path around the back of the playground meandering along a smooth concrete track. Surrounded by plants, trees and green spaces, kids can burn some energy. This path passes alongside Cardiff High School before ending at Fifth Street.

Definitely worth a visit if you have little ones, especially with the unique rope nest.  There’s nothing like a new experience to enjoy! Check out more playgrounds we’ve reviewed across Lake Macquarie here: Playground & Parks

Marks Oval Playground gets an upgrade and the kids love it!

This playground looks and feels different from a standard playground in Lake Macquarie. Built from a wood ‘look-a-like’ structure, it blends into the surroundings and natural landscape. It was interesting to hear the kids comment on its unique character as well, that’s why Marks Oval Playground is worth the visit.
