A sprinkle of Christmas magic can brighten any celebration, so wave your chocolate wand this festive season! These sweet chocolate wands are perfect to make with the kids, using simple ingredients and easy steps for all ages. They’re great for a bit of festive fun at home, for taking along to a Christmas party, or for serving at the kids’ table on Christmas Day.
What You’ll Need
- 2 blocks of chocolate – we used white and dark chocolate
- Breadsticks – we used the Coles brand
- Star-shaped ice cube tray (ours was from Coles)
- Christmas candy decorations
We already had some decorations in the pantry, so feel free to use whatever you have left over from making our Reindeer Poop and Christmas Crackers!
Step 1
Melt your white chocolate and spoon about 1–2 teaspoons into each star-shaped mold. Give the tray a gentle tap on the benchtop to spread the chocolate evenly and remove any bubbles. Pop your stars in the freezer to set. The fridge works too, but the freezer is much quicker!
Step 2
Repeat the same process with your dark chocolate. We used dark chocolate so we could mix it with the leftover white chocolate to make milk chocolate. No waste here! Take a breadstick and hold it over the bowl of melted chocolate, then gently spoon the chocolate over about three-quarters of the stick. Hold it upside down to let any excess drip off. Now for the fun part. Sprinkle on your Christmas decorations, place the wands on a tray lined with parchment paper, and pop them in the fridge to set.
Step 3
Once your stars and wands have set, it’s time to bring them together! Gently reheat any leftover chocolate and use it to “glue” the stars onto the tops of the wands. We added an extra gold star in the middle for a bit of festive sparkle. Let the kids get creative and decorate their own; it’s all part of the fun! With the leftover chocolate, we made a few milk chocolate stars and used broken breadsticks to create mini wands, perfect for little hands.
