Avondale School was founded in April 1897 on the grounds of Avondale College, before moving to its current location in 1980. Under the guidance of Mrs Lacey, 15 students attended the original school, with some arriving by rowboat along Dora Creek. These days, modern means of transport now deliver around 900 students to Avondale School daily.

Each student is different and learns differently but all are encouraged to do the very best that they can in all areas they involve themselves. Our highly trained staff, who have over 1000 years of collective experience at Avondale School alone, encourage students to be engaged and enthusiastic about the learning process.

Our Primary Campus and Secondary Campus provide an educational scope in whatever phase of life your child may be in. An Early Years program also allows an introduction to learning, as well as After School Care and Vacation Care programs, adding value to children’s development.

Primary Campus
Avondale School’s Primary Campus is an exciting and vibrant place to be. It’s a campus where students and teachers learn together, where learning is for everyone, and where students learn skills for real life and learn deeply. Students are encouraged to achieve their personal best while laughing, playing and having fun. We fail forward together, growing an inclusive and accepting community where it’s safe to be an individual, and while walking with Jesus and discovering our purpose. Learning is also changing, and the Primary Campus is embracing this with the implementation of more modern Project Based Learning (PBL) techniques that are sure to enhance the learning experience and the development of well-rounded students.

Secondary Campus
Avondale School’s Secondary Campus is a place where both staff and students love being a part of. Positive relationships between staff and students are a focus to ensure a sense of value in being a part of a broader school family. As a Christian School, Jesus is placed at the centre, which encourages a spirit of service. Students are empowered to lead and represent through involvement in the Peer Support, SRC and leadership programs. Staff are committed to providing cutting edge education, resulting in high HSC achievement that consistently places Avondale in the top 200 academic schools in NSW. With care and nurture, alongside the partnership with parents and caregivers, representations at every sporting level and high academic results make for a well-rounded and happy student, setting them up for real learning and a successful future. 

It is our hope that students who go through Avondale School will learn skills and values that they will take with them for life.

The Avondale Early Learning Centre also operates on the same campus in an inclusive and nurturing setting for young children aged 3-5, as their introduction to formal education.
