Where can I get tested for COVID-19 in Lake Macquarie?

It doesn’t seem that long ago when we had a long list of testing centres dedicated to COVID-19. Things have definitely changed. There are no centres that only run this testing. However, you do have options, and if you think you have COVID-19, then this is the advice from Health NSW.

Testing options for COVID-19

If you have any cold or flu symptoms, then staying home until you feel well is still the most important thing. There are still 2 testing options on the market if you want to confirm you have COVID-19.

  • Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) that are available at a range of places, including pharmacies.
  • PCR test, which can be taken by your doctor or a pathology centre. This testing is FREE for Medicare holders.

Testing positive

We’ve come a long way in the management of this virus, with no rules in place for NSW if you test positive for COVID. However, use your common sense so you don’t spread it to family, friends, and work colleagues.

  • Stay home until the symptoms have passed.
  • Monitor your symptoms, and if they get worse, talk to your GP.
  • Don’t take chances if you know you’re at high risk. Manage it with your GP.
  • Antiviral medication is available for some people, but it needs to be taken within 5 days of symptoms starting.
