Have you heard about the upgrades planned for Toronto foreshore?

There’s a lot being planned for Toronto foreshore. Lake Mac City Council is in the process of designing a Toronto Foreshore Masterplan. They’d love our community to let them know if they’re heading in the right direction. The 5-hectare foreshore area is being designed to offer more choices and facilities to the community, and make this an exciting destination for locals and visitors.

“It will be a beautiful location to bring the family down for a picnic and play, grab a coffee or a bite to eat, access the lake for sailing and recreation or even to just take a walk along the water’s edge. It will no doubt be great for residents, but I am sure it will also attract more people to the area, which is great for tourism and our local economy.” – Mayor Cr Fraser

Cafes, bikes and BBQ’s

So, let’s take a look at some of the plans. The upgrade will occur between Bath Street and Wharf Road. There’ll be wooden boardwalks joining the areas up. The existing cafe close to Wharf Road will be expanded and the nearby facilities upgraded. Council is saying there is also the potential for another cafe and bike hub to be installed near Bath Street. Lots of shade and BBQ facilities are on the agenda as well as a terraced amphitheatre and floating stage.

Water play and so much more

The kids will be happy that’s for sure because the existing play area is set to expand. With water play being a must with our kids on a hot summer’s day, the upgrade will include an interactive water track play area, perfect to cool down and have some fun. Every child loves sand, right? Well, your child can bury treasure or build a sandcastle in the new sand-based play area. But that’s not all…let their imagination take flight as they explore the train playhouse!

The draft plan

“The draft masterplan shares a high-level design of the foreshore and shows people how the different spaces will connect with each other. We have several designs online that will help walk residents through a range of new features and infrastructure,” Mr Antcliff, Lake Macquarie City Council’s Property, and Business Development Manager said.

“We’ve listened to what the community would like to see for the Toronto foreshore and used that to design a cohesive yet flexible foreshore experience that celebrates Toronto. I’m looking forward to the feedback which will help us finalise the plan before it is presented to the Council recommending exhibition in early 2021.”
